For a short work week, I thought it would never end. Joe had Wednesday off, so I took a comp day and we went into Chicago. I met one of my old friends from when I worked in advertising for lunch. We went to Volare. I had Insalata di Spinaci con Salmone Grigliato - Spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted red pepper and grilled salmon with a balsamic vinaigrette. It was so yummy and light. Perfect for such a hot day.
We walked down Michigan Ave and went to Millennium Park and took photos of the Bean.
Love this photo of Joe.
We stopped for a drink at this cool bistro on the river called Cyrano's Cafe and Wine Bar. It was so nice sitting by the river listening to some Edith Piaf and drinking a glass of wine.
We headed further up Michigan Avenue and took some photos of the new Marilyn Monroe statue in front of the NBC Tower.
After lunch we caught a cab and headed to Navy Pier for a fruity drink at the new Margaritaville Cafe.
It was fun playing tourist in our own city. We live so close, but rarely get the chance to take advantage of all the wonderful things Chicago has to offer. Looking forward to our next adventure in the city.
